Massage May Bring Relief to Patients with Osteoarthritis of the Knee
In a recent, controlled study, 68 men and women with confirmed osteoarthritis of the knee were assigned to an hour-long swedish massage twice a week for 4 weeks. Following that they would undergo a single hour-long massage for another 4 weeks. The results of the study were encouraging, as symptoms diminished over the course of the study. Doctors believe that by improving circulation to the affected areas the symptoms simply fall-off.
Although this was only a limited trial, the results of the study are certainly encouraging and may point to a less painful future for anyone with osteoarthritis.
