Ginseng, Wild American

The active ingredients of American ginseng are panaxosides which are believed to calm the stomach and brain and stimulate vital organs. An early study suggests that American ginseng, in combination with ginkgo, may be valuable in treating ADHD, although, more research is needed. American ginseng is believed to enhance the immune system, which could help the body fight infection and disease. Like Asian ginseng, American ginseng is used to treat depression, fatigue, stress, colds, flu, respiratory problems, inflammation and a damaged immune system.Emotional and physical stress, manifesting as elevated blood sugar. Precautions: American ginseng can cause elevated blood pressue, insomnia, restlessness, anxiety, euphoria, diarrhea, vomiting, headache, nosebleed, breast pain and vaginal bleeding. People with hypertension should not take American ginseng without the supervision of a medical practitioner.People with low blood pressure as well as those with an acute illness or diabetes should use caution when taking ginseng.
