Hyssop is a perennial herb that belongs to the mint family. Native to southern and southeastern Europe, hyssop and its oil are used as an expectorant, digestive aid, sedative and muscle relaxant. Taken internally, Hyssop is used for the treatment of nasal congestion and mild irritations of the respiratory tract, colds, coughs, bronchitis, indigestion, gas, and anxiety.. External use of hyssop is for cold sores, genital herpes sores, burns, wounds and skin irritations. Precautions: No serious side effects other than an upset stomach or diarrhea.
